Our Simple 3-Step Launch Strategy
Step 1: Audience Research
We begin by taking time to understand your audience. We start building a profile of who you write to: their desires, frustrations, and general demographic characteristics. With this information, we craft a customized email marketing strategy that resonates with your audience. This involves analyzing their behavioral patterns, preferences, and engagement levels across the various platforms your business resides. We also consider the cultural and social contexts that influence their perceptions and reactions.
Step 2: Email Creation
By deeply understanding your audience, we create emails that are not only relevant and engaging but also tailored to provoke a meaningful response, from driving sales, enhancing brand loyalty, and increasing engagement. This approach ensures that every message we craft aligns perfectly with the expectations and needs of your following, maximizing the impact of your email marketing. We both design and write the copy for each email that will be a part of your newsletter.
Step 3: Launch
At this stage, we officially launch your customized email marketing strategy. Depending on how we structure our partnership, this will typically include a pre-built welcome series to nurture new subscribers, along with recurring newsletter emails.Post-launch, we'll continue to give you constant updates on how your emails are performing and how your audience is responding.

Sarah Dussault
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarahfit/
Overview
Sarah aims to help women 35+ achieve their fitness and nutrition goals. Her core service is her “FASTer” program that helps people lose body fat incredibly quickly.Sarah’s email marketing is slim. She barely sends out emails, and if she does, they’re a good mix between value, promoting her program, and free guides. It’s clear she understands the basics of emails, but there’s a lot of untapped potential. Given her large audience, a consistent, valuable email newsletter can help her achieve serious growth.
Our Goal
We noticed that Sarah’s current emails are either extremely wordy, don’t clearly convey value, or a combination of the both. Wordy emails are the death of subscriber retention and conversion rates, so we wanted to shorten her emails, and make them more direct and valuable to the reader.
Email 1: Last Chance Email (old vs. new)
Sarah’s original email here is good, but it needs a lot of work. She sets up the email properly, communicates the purpose of her service, but fails to clearly deliver on the transformative effects past two simple testimonials. The email is far too short and lacks substance, meaning subscribers at the other end would be hesitant to follow through with Sarah’s offer. We went in and made three core changes. First, we bolstered her social proof by adding the amount of people she’s helped. This builds more trust with the customer, leading to easier sales. Second, we changed the copy to convey a higher sense of urgency to buy the program. Lastly, we leverage the social proof to tell her audience that they’re essentially guaranteed to get results. These three changes would significantly increase program sign-ups, meaning Sarah’s revenue increases.

Email 2: Meal Plan Email (old vs. new)
Here, we honed in on reducing Sarah’s wordiness and making her message clearer. This way, her email subscribers are more inclined to read her email and follow her advice. After all, it’s difficult to resonate with your audience when you give them a large list of things to do.We cleaned up and changed her copy, made the directions more “direct”, and constantly addressed the reader’s frustrations throughout the email. This results in higher subscriber retention and higher revenues with an audience that truly sees Sarah as an authority figure.

Kate Lyman

Overview
Kate makes nutrition content centered around dieting and eating nutritious, healthy foods. She focuses on educating people about long-term solutions to nutritional deficits, straying away from the “quick fixes” the industry prides itself on.Kate’s email marketing is sparse; she rarely sends emails (key issue), and when she does, they’re always educational.
Our Goal
We wanted to take Kate’s email marketing up a notch. Her current emails lack invigorating character and detail. They’re a tad lifeless to read. She also lacks email variety. Since most of her emails are value-focused, there’s little room for her to promote her coaching program, present testimonials, and drive more sales. In essence, we made our changes to bring immediate revenue growth and boost subscriber retention.
Email 1: Holiday Navigation Guide Email (old vs. new)
Kate’s original email here lacked a clear value proposition for the reader. The email only includes the features of the guide and never connects with the reader to showcase how it would make a significant change in their nutritional life.We changed this around to directly communicate how the guide would positively impact their holiday eating. The new email is more entertaining to read and is far more direct, valuable, and relatable to the audience. Our last line also makes the email more personable, showing the reader that Kate truly cares about them on a 1-on-1 level.

Email 2: Testimonial Marketing Email
This is an email we wrote without consulting any of Kate’s past emails. To grow her coaching program, these are the exact emails Kate needs in her email marketing. She not only needs to promote her coaching more, but she also needs a way to demonstrate her client results to her audience to boost coaching sign-ups (revenue increases). This is the kind of variety Kate needs to build a strong email newsletter that is responsible for a sizable chunk of audience and revenue growth.

Genevieve: Holistic Personal Finance
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/holistic.personal.finance/
Overview
Genevieve brands herself as Holistic Personal Finance and makes content around proper saving, spending, and investing habits to generate lifelong wealth for those who have messed up finances due to severe past mistakes.
Genevieve has an established email marketing channel. She sends emails daily, and they’re packed with value, but they’re often too complex and unfriendly for absolute beginners to read.
Our Goal
We wanted to make Genevieve’s emails more approachable and easy to read. Her entire brand is centered around making personal finance less scary, and we reflected that through her emails. We also (obviously) retained her bubbly writing and emoji style, to accurately project her voice to her audience.
Email 1: “First Step” Email (old vs. new)
Genevieve’s original step one email was way too jargon-filled and unattractive to read. Personal finance itself is an already daunting subject, so making the first email a friendly read is imperative. This is exactly what we did. We cut down on Genevieve’s jargon and simplified all of the actions and terms, while also making the email more enjoyable to read. This way, new email subscribers have a gentle introduction to the world of finance and aren’t bombarded by technicalities right away. The revised email would increase subscriber retention and get more people to sign up for Genevieve’s paid coaching.
Old Email

Email 2: Cashflow Email (old vs. new)
We approached this email with the same philosophy since both emails had the same issue. Genevieve’s step two email was way too jargon-filled. We cut down, simplified, and defined all of the financial jargon she used while making the email lively and a joy to read.Again, these revisions result in the same outcome. Genevieve’s email subscribers will have an easy introduction to finance, increasing retention, and increasing paid coaching clients.

Vittorio Rigato: Stoic Money
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stoicmoneycoach/
Overview
Vittorio is an investing coach who focuses on all aspects of long-term investing, with a focus on retirement. His Instagram content is purely value-based and serves as a funnel to his paid coaching program.Vittorio has a consistent email newsletter. His emails are also purely value-based, and he occasionally plugs his paid coaching program. However, his emails are all over the place with drastically varying lengths and improper English/grammar.
Our Goal
We wanted to take Vittorio’s current emails, fix the English, make them more enjoyable to read, shorten them, while still retaining their value and Vittorio’s voice. This way, Vittorio has a more effective newsletter that results in more coaching sign-ups.
Email 1: 401(k) Mistakes Email (old vs. new)
Vittorio’s original email here is far too long and complex for investing beginners. To someone who has surface-level investing knowledge, the email is good. But, Vittorio is targeting people who are just getting into investing. In this case, the email doesn’t properly resonate with his audience, resulting in a loss of trust and long-term revenue. We went in and dramatically simplified the email while still maintaining Vittorio’s point. Now, the copy is far more engaging to read, provides ample examples, has minimal jargon, and paints investing as something approachable. We also moved his YouTube video link at the bottom. Originally, he had the video at the top and that ruins reading retention. No one will opt to read the email when they can simply watch a video, instead. All of these changes will result in higher subscriber retention, trust, and ultimately, an increase in long-term coaching sign-ups and revenue.
Old Email
Subject Line: 3 Mistakes to avoid in your 401(k)
Our Improved Email
Subject Line: Don't make these 3 mistakes in your 401(k)
Email 2: Successful Investor Email (old vs. new)
Vittorio’s original successful investor email is a good start, but it lacks direction. He has a great structure, going from: calling out a pain point → providing a personal example on how he solved the pain → providing a solution (his coaching program). But, the email isn’t as drawn out as it should be. It’s too short and doesn’t have enough substance for what it’s meant to be and convey. We fixed all of these issues while keeping the same email structure. We changed the copy to not only be more enjoyable to read, but also more emotionally charged, to make the reader more convicted to take action. We kept Vittorio’s same ideas and we used them as an effective bridge to pitch his coaching program at the end. These changes increase reading retention, which results in more immediate sign-ups for his coaching program (again, more revenue).

Are You Thinking Outside the Box Enough When You’re Writing?
In the realm of writing, whether it’s for marketing, storytelling, or conveying information, thinking outside the box is a critical skill. This creative approach to writing can mean the difference between content that resonates and engages, and content that falls flat. But are you truly maximizing your potential to think outside the box? Here’s an exploration of why unconventional thinking is vital in writing and how you can determine if you’re doing it enough.
Understanding the Importance of Unconventional Thinking in Writing
At its core, thinking outside the box in writing involves stepping beyond traditional boundaries and norms. It’s about exploring new angles, employing unique narrative techniques, and presenting ideas in novel ways. This kind of thinking is essential because it can capture the attention of your audience in an increasingly saturated information landscape. Unconventional writing can surprise, delight, and engage readers, making your content more memorable and impactful.
Signs You Might Not Be Thinking Outside the Box
Before you can enhance your outside-the-box thinking, it’s important to recognize the signs that you might be sticking too closely to the conventional path. If you find yourself relying heavily on clichés, tropes, or familiar formats without any unique twist, it might be a sign that your writing is too inside the box. Similarly, if you’re not taking risks or are consistently playing it safe, you’re likely not pushing the creative boundaries as much as you could be.
Strategies to Foster Unconventional Thinking in Writing
To cultivate a more innovative approach to your writing, consider the following strategies:1. Challenge Your Assumptions: Start by questioning the usual way of doing things. If you’re writing a piece of marketing content, for example, ask yourself if there’s a different angle or an unexplored perspective that could make your message stand out.2. Seek Inspiration from Unlikely Sources: Look beyond your usual sources of inspiration. If you’re a fiction writer, read non-fiction books on a topic unrelated to your writing. If you’re a technical writer, explore poetry or abstract art. Diverse inputs can spark new ideas.3. Experiment with Different Formats and Styles: Don’t be afraid to experiment with your writing. This could mean playing with narrative structure, mixing genres, or adopting a unique voice or style. The key is to break from routine and experiment with new approaches.4. Embrace Constraints as Opportunities: Sometimes, constraints can fuel creativity. Set yourself a challenging constraint, like writing a compelling story in under 500 words or conveying a marketing message without using any industry jargon. This can force you to think more creatively.5. Engage in Creative Exercises: Regularly engage in exercises that boost creative thinking. This might include writing prompts, brainstorming sessions, or even activities like mind mapping.
Balancing Creativity with Clarity
While thinking outside the box is important, it’s equally crucial to balance creativity with clarity. The most innovative writing loses its impact if it’s not understandable or accessible to your target audience. Strive for a harmony where your creative ideas enhance, rather than obscure, the clarity of your message.
Continuous Learning and Adaptation
Lastly, remember that unconventional thinking in writing is not a one-time effort but a continuous process. The literary and marketing landscapes are always evolving, and what’s considered innovative today might be the norm tomorrow. Stay curious, keep learning, and adapt your writing techniques to stay ahead.
Conclusion
Thinking outside the box in your writing is essential for engaging your audience in a meaningful and memorable way. It requires breaking free from traditional norms, taking risks, and constantly challenging your own assumptions. By adopting innovative approaches and balancing them with clarity, you can ensure your writing not only stands out but also resonates deeply with your readers. Remember, the best writing often comes from a place of bold creativity and continuous evolution.

How to Generate Email Newsletter Ideas in Minutes: 5 Essential Tips
Generating fresh and engaging content for email newsletters can often be challenging, especially when under time constraints. However, with the right strategies, it's possible to come up with compelling newsletter ideas in just a few minutes. This article provides five essential tips to streamline your brainstorming process and ensure your newsletters are both interesting and relevant to your audience.
1. Leverage Your Existing Content
One of the quickest ways to generate ideas is by repurposing existing content. Look through your blog posts, social media updates, customer testimonials, or any other content you've previously created. Consider how you can reframe or expand upon these topics in your newsletter. For instance, a popular blog post can be turned into a series for your newsletter, offering deeper insights each week. This approach not only saves time but also ensures consistency across your different communication channels.
2. Use Analytics to Understand Audience Interests
Your past newsletters and website analytics are goldmines for understanding what your audience enjoys. Analyze which newsletters had the highest open rates and engagement. Look for patterns in topics, styles, or formats that resonated most with your readers. This data-driven approach can provide clear guidance on what topics to revisit or expand upon. Additionally, consider using tools that track trending topics in your industry to stay ahead of the curve.
3. Implement Brainstorming Techniques
Effective brainstorming techniques can significantly speed up the idea generation process. Techniques like mind mapping, where you visually map out related topics around a central theme, can spur creative ideas quickly. Another method is the SCAMPER technique, which involves thinking about how you can Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate, or Rearrange existing ideas. These techniques stimulate creative thinking and can lead to a wealth of ideas in a short period.
4. Involve Your Team and Audience
Involving others in the brainstorming process can yield a diverse range of ideas. Ask team members from different departments for their input, as they might have unique perspectives on what could interest your audience. Additionally, directly engaging with your audience can be incredibly fruitful. Use social media, surveys, or direct communication to ask your subscribers what they'd like to read about. This not only provides you with ideas straight from your target audience but also increases engagement as your readers feel their opinions are valued.
5. Set Up a Content Calendar and Idea Repository
Having a content calendar can streamline the process of planning your newsletters. Allocate specific themes or topics to different editions in advance. This way, you can quickly refer to your calendar for immediate inspiration. Alongside a content calendar, maintain an idea repository. Every time you come across an interesting topic, news piece, or question from a customer that could potentially be a newsletter topic, add it to this repository. Over time, you'll build a substantial bank of ideas that you can turn to when you're pressed for time.
BONUS: Incorporating Trending Topics and Events
Keep an eye on current events and trending topics in your industry. Newsjacking, where you capitalize on the popularity of a news story to amplify your marketing message, can be an effective strategy. Be timely and relevant in discussing how current events impact your industry or audience. However, it's crucial to remain sensitive to serious or controversial issues and ensure your content is always respectful and relevant.
Final Thoughts
Generating ideas for email newsletters doesn't have to be a time-consuming process. By effectively leveraging existing resources, understanding your audience, employing brainstorming techniques, involving your community, and planning ahead, you can quickly come up with engaging content. Remember, the key to successful newsletters is offering value to your readers, whether through informative content, entertainment, or solutions to their problems. Keep your audience's interests at the forefront, and you'll find that ideas flow more naturally and rapidly.

Why You Should Put an "Edge" on Your Email Copy
Crafting compelling email copy is an art form that demands not just creativity but also a keen understanding of your audience. In today's fast-paced digital world, where inboxes are crowded and attention spans are short, putting an "edge" on your email copy can make a significant difference. This article delves into the reasons why edgy email copy can be a game-changer for your marketing strategy.
Stand Out in Crowded Inboxes
With billions of emails sent daily, standing out in a crowded inbox is a daunting task. An edgy approach in your email copy can be the differentiator. It involves using bold, unconventional language or concepts that grab attention. This doesn't mean being controversial or offensive; rather, it's about being thought-provoking and distinctive. By breaking away from the norm, your email has a better chance of catching the eye of the recipient.
Foster a Unique Brand Voice
Edgy copy can help in establishing and reinforcing a unique brand voice. This distinctiveness is crucial in building brand recognition and loyalty. When your emails consistently reflect a unique tone and style, they become more than just communication; they're an extension of your brand's personality. This uniqueness can resonate with your audience, making your brand more memorable and relatable.
Engage and Entertain Your Audience
Engagement is key in email marketing. Edgy copy often incorporates humor, clever wordplay, or unexpected twists that can entertain the reader. This entertainment value can transform your email from a simple message into an enjoyable experience. When your audience finds your emails entertaining, they're more likely to read them thoroughly and look forward to future communications.
Encourage Higher Open Rates and Engagement
Emails with intriguing subject lines and compelling previews can lead to higher open rates. An edgy approach can pique curiosity, prompting recipients to open the email to discover more. Once opened, well-crafted, edgy content can engage the reader, leading to higher click-through rates and better overall engagement with your content.
Differentiate From Competitors
In a competitive market, differentiation is vital. An edgy email style can set you apart from competitors who may stick to more traditional or conservative approaches. This differentiation can be particularly effective in industries that are perceived as mundane or where most communications are formulaic.
Create Shareable Content
Edgy content has higher potential for being shared. If your email content is original, witty, or striking, it stands a better chance of being forwarded or shared on social media. This not only increases the reach of your message but also enhances brand visibility and recognition.
Target Specific Demographics Effectively
Different demographics respond to different types of content. Younger audiences, for example, might appreciate a more daring, bold approach compared to older demographics. Understanding your target audience and tailoring your edgy content to their preferences can yield better engagement and conversion rates.
Build a Strong Emotional Connection
Edgy content can evoke strong emotions – excitement, amusement, surprise. Emotional connections are powerful in driving consumer behavior. When your email copy strikes an emotional chord, it can lead to a deeper, more meaningful connection with your audience, influencing their perception of your brand and their decision-making.
Encourage Feedback and Interaction
An unconventional approach in your email copy can encourage feedback and interaction from your audience. People are more likely to respond to content that stands out and provokes thought or emotion. This interaction can provide valuable insights into your audience's preferences and behaviors.
Adapt to Changing Consumer Preferences
Finally, adopting an edgy style in your email copy shows that your brand is adaptable and in tune with changing consumer preferences. In an era where consumers are constantly seeking fresh, exciting content, a bold approach in your emails can demonstrate that your brand is dynamic and forward-thinking.
Conclusion
In the end, putting an edge on your email copy isn't just about being bold for the sake of it. It's a strategic approach to make your communications stand out, engage your audience on a deeper level, and establish a unique brand identity in a cluttered digital landscape. As with any strategy, it's essential to find the right balance and tone that aligns with your brand and resonates with your audience.
